My first computer was a BBC Micro. I have fond memories of playing Elite and programming in BASIC: two hobbies that have stayed with me ever since. Fast forward to University. I did an undergraduate degree in Physics, before switching to Computer Science with a Masters and working for IBM as a professional software engineer. I then returned to University to complete a PhD in Artificial Intelligence. My PhD research focused on AI planning and scheduling in multi-agent environments.

Outside of computing I am a fan of all things rock: mineral and musical. I play keyboard in a local band, and enjoy scaling cliffs (real or artificial) on the odd weekend.
